Background of the study

Academic performance is influenced by a wide range of factors, including individual learning styles, pace, and prior knowledge. Traditional classroom settings often fail to cater to the diverse learning needs of students, resulting in suboptimal performance for some learners. Personalized learning, which tailors educational content and delivery to individual students, has emerged as an effective strategy for addressing these challenges. The application of AI in personalized learning models further enhances this approach by dynamically adapting to students’ needs and providing customized learning experiences in real-time. In Bauchi LGA, Bauchi State, AI-based personalized learning models have the potential to improve student engagement, understanding, and overall academic performance. This study aims to explore how AI can be utilized to create personalized learning experiences that are responsive to the unique needs of students in Bauchi LGA.

Statement of the problem

In Bauchi LGA, students face challenges in achieving optimal academic performance due to a lack of personalized learning approaches in the classroom. Traditional teaching methods often do not address the diverse learning needs and preferences of individual students, leading to disengagement and underperformance. AI-based personalized learning models offer a potential solution by adapting instructional materials to the learner’s pace, style, and prior knowledge. However, there has been limited research on the effectiveness of AI-driven personalized learning systems in Bauchi LGA. This study seeks to evaluate how AI can enhance academic performance through personalized learning in this region.

Objectives of the study

1. To design and implement an AI-based personalized learning model for students in Bauchi LGA.

2. To evaluate the impact of the AI-based model on students’ academic performance.

3. To assess students’ and educators’ perceptions of the AI-based personalized learning system.

Research questions

1. How effective is the AI-based personalized learning model in enhancing students’ academic performance in Bauchi LGA?

2. What are the perceptions of students and educators regarding the AI-based personalized learning system?

3. How does personalized learning through AI compare to traditional teaching methods in terms of student engagement and performance?

Research hypotheses

1. The AI-based personalized learning model will significantly improve academic performance among students in Bauchi LGA.

2. Students and educators will have positive perceptions of the AI-based personalized learning system.

3. The AI-based learning model will lead to higher student engagement and achievement compared to traditional teaching methods.

Significance of the study

This study will offer valuable insights into the potential of AI-driven personalized learning models to improve academic outcomes. The findings could inform educational practices in Bauchi LGA, offering a scalable solution to enhance student performance and engagement.

Scope and limitations of the study

This study will focus on the design, implementation, and evaluation of an AI-based personalized learning model for students in Bauchi LGA, Bauchi State. Limitations include the availability of technology infrastructure and resistance to adopting AI-based teaching tools among some educators.
